On Tuesday, December 06, 2011, Shay Shafie, General Manager – The Johnson Development Corp. distributed an email with subject line - Imperial Zoning – I need your help! To read the email from Shay Shafie, go HERE.
The IRC response to that email is as follows:
Shay:
Several IRC (Imperial Redevelopment Committee) members have forwarded to me your email dated 12-6-11, addressed to “Friends,” regarding the proposed Imperial redevelopment project.
In your letter you state “…we are still up against a relatively small, but vocal group of residents who are against the development and will do anything to make sure that it does not succeed.” In order to avoid confusion, I would like to differentiate the IRC from any other group(s) to whom you refer.
As you know, the IRC has been very supportive of Johnson Development’s plans for this project. The IRC, however, has been quite concerned with certain specific items contained, or neglected, in your PD application. Generally stated, those items include the following:
- The number of apartments proposed within the Imperial development
- The location of those apartment projects
- Traffic Impact Analyses (TIAs) projecting traffic volumes and designs of major thoroughfares
- Negative impact on adjoining or neighboring established subdivisions
The IRC was created to ensure that the City of Sugar Land and Johnson Development address those issues. The IRC and Johnson have demonstrated mutual rapport over the past several months, and the IRC looks forward to continuing to be a constructive force during these final stages of development planning.
The IRC remains extremely supportive of Johnson Development and the City, and is, in fact, very enthusiastic about the development.
I would appreciate your acknowledgement of the above.
Sincerely,
Bud Friedman
Co-Chair
Imperial Redevopment Committee
